Building a Reedbed

The Ground Sheet

A settlement tank is to be constructed between the septic tank and the reed bed. The front wall is seen here.

Then an impermeable sheet is laid in the hole. It must be on a smooth bed so that it does not puncture. We put down builders sheets, then a carpet like sheet to cover pointed stones and finally the geotextile membrane. It must be laid up against the walls above the height that the water way settle, i.e.the outlet of the settlement tank.

And then stones arfe gently poured/laid on to the sheet. Don't puncture it. Big stones at the bottom then graded up to sand at the top. Subsequently an expert advised that only 5 cm grade is OK.

Construction of teh settlement tank between the reedbed and septic tank.
