Green Road, Carlow since 1970. He has been a nember of the Craft Potter's Society of Ireland since its foundation in 1977, and las regularly exhibited with the Society. His work is unusual in that it employs a vide range of decorating and firing techniques. His glazes have evolved through continual experimentation with local lays, stone dusts and wood ash. Jim was awarded first prize for domestic pottery by the Craft Potter's Society at their 1990 exhibition and in 1993 he won the Ladbroke Craft Award at Carlow's Eigse Arts Festival. 0503 42693. HAND PAINTED WOODCRAFT Clare Kearns, 17 Greenhills Estate, Brownshill, Carlow, is engaged in hand painted woodcraft, with each piece individually cut and hand painted. Her work ranges from hangers, clocks, bookends and children's furniture. Pieces can be colour coordinated and personalised. Clare has exhibited with Eigse Carlow since 1991; Kilkenny Arts Week, Dunlavin Arts Festival, Wexford Opera Festival, I.G.G.O Durrow 1994, and many other craft fairs throughout the country. 0503 42720 CLOYDAGH WOODCRAFT Cloydagh Woodcraft is handcrafted by Ciaran McCarthy in his workshop at Cloydagh on the banks of the river Barrow, three miles from Carlow town. While all aspects of joinery are employed his speciality is wood turning and he makes such items as bowls, clocks, four-poster beds, platters, high and low stools, tables, coatstands and table lamps. A lot of his work is bought by visitors and people visiting relatives from abroad with the result that his work can be found throughout the world.
